A Legacy Born on Two Wheels

In November 1896, George Lee Snider arrived in Bakersfield, California, all the way from Quincy, Florida—with just $16 in his pocket and a heart full of ambition. After working hard with the Kern County Land Company and the Southern Pacific Shops, George followed his passion and opened a small bicycle shop that would spark a legacy.

In 1904, Kern Cyclery was born, offering not just bicycles, but also phonographs and photography supplies—capturing the spirit of adventure and innovation. As the years rolled on, Snider’s embraced the thrill of the open road by adding Harley-Davidson motorcycles to its lineup, becoming more than a shop—it became a destination for dreamers, riders, and explorers alike.
